Entrapments of the Devil
Entrapment: Snare, trap, pitfall, device, assignment, strategy. [ 2 Corinthians 2:11 ] Many people wonder what the Bible has to say about disobedience. The Bible defines disobedience as any choice that is contrary to what God has instructed.
10 AREAS OF DISOBEDIENCE THAT OPEN DOORS TO SATAN.
1. Preaching another gospel or your acceptance of it - Galatians 1:9
God created relationship with Him through His Covenants.
Man created religion by inventing other ways to reach God.
‘I am the way the truth and the life’ John 14:6
Other religions and cults are Satanically inspired and contain an Anti-Christ spirit.
The Church you belong to is vitally important.
- Does it preach the correct and full Gospel.
- Does it bear fruit according to the Word of God.
- Is structured correctly with full accountability.
- What's the Pastors background and history.
- Check the Credentials and last Church of the Pastor. Hebrews 20:24-25
2. Trusting in the flesh instead of God - Jeremiah 17:5
Verse 7-8 gives a beautiful picture of a man trusting in God.
Trusting in self is risky as we as humans are limited.
3. Not loving God - Deuteronomy 6:5
‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul and with all your strength’. ‘If anyone does not love the Lord Jesus Christ, let him be accursed’ 1 Corinthians 16:22
4. Idolatry - Exodus 20:3
‘You shall have no other gods before me’
Anything we worship and esteem higher than God is considered an idol.
Anything that restricts you from loving God with all you heart, mind & strength is an idol.
Relics, icons, people, job, possessions? Constantly trying to control, manipulate, compulsively trying to arrange all the outcomes, or controlling another person - these are forms of idolatry. If you love the approval of man over the approval of God - this is idolatry.
5. Not tithing - Malachi 3:8-9
Many in the House of God are under a curse because of their failure to tithe. The Curse may manifest in my different ways (finances, health, relationships etc).
6. Abortion - Exodus 20:13
Abortion is murder and the shedding of innocent blood will be very costly in the final judgment day unless a person has confessed it as murder and ask for forgiveness.
100,000 abortions a year - 2 Consenting parties, 2 Consenting accomplices. At least 400,000 people will answer to the charge of murder per year in Australia.
Immoral behaviour and activity carries a price tag. Women who have had abortions often have high rates of depression, anxiety, guilt and sadness.
7. Greed - Exodus 20:17
‘You shall not covet’. Obsessive desiring what belongs to someone else.
Lust, gambling and jealousy are all manifestations as an abundance of greed.
‘Beware and be on your guard against every form of greed; for not even when one has an abundance does his life consist of his possessions’ Luke 12:15 NAS
1 Timothy 6:9-10 - The lust for money.
8. Laziness and refusing correction can bring poverty and shame.
Proverbs 13:18 ‘Poverty and shame will come to him who disdains correction but he who regards a rebuke will be honored’.
Proverbs 19:15 ‘Laziness casts one into a deep sleep and an idle person will suffer hunger’
2 Thessalonians 3:10 ‘If anyone will not work, neither shall he eat’.
Poverty, debt and lack can also be the result of uncontrollable addictions to spending, gambling, alcohol and drugs. Poverty tends to run in the family.
9. Envy or jealousy - James 3:14-16
Comparing, measuring and being ungrateful leads to a jealous & envious spirit.
You may have great spiritual wisdom and knowledge but if there is bitterness in your home, strife in your heart, envy at your workplace - don’t think you are spiritual.
10. Pride - Proverbs 16:5
‘Everyone proud in heart is an abomination to the Lord: though they join forces none will go unpunished’ - verse 18 ‘Pride goes before destruction and a haughty spirit before a fall’.
Pride is the opposite of humility and has been the downfall of many Christians.
It was the downfall of Lucifer - Isaiah 14:12-15
This event is an example to show us what can happen when our self-willed, pride and arrogance get in the way. Pride manifests in many different ways and often comes about when people come into material wealth, success, fame.
Spiritual pride can occur from position, college degrees etc.
1 John 2:15-16
‘God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble’ James 4:6
Close these doors and stay within God’s prescribed boundaries for life.
