2019 YEAR OF THE CROSS

"The Cross is the Gospel Power of God"

For the message of The Cross is foolishness to those who are perishing but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.

2019 YEAR OF THE CROSS

The Cross is the Gospel Power of God.

Have you ever wondered why The Cross is the symbol of Christianity on almost every Christian Church?

Whether it be Catholic, Anglican, Baptist, Uniting, Presbyterian, Lutheran, Orthodox or Pentecostal they all have the Cross as the symbol of their faith. The Cross is central to Christianity.

Communion which the Church celebrates is also a symbol of The Cross which includes the Death, Burial and Resurrection of Jesus Christ. The Cross is the heart of the Gospel.

The Gospel or 'Good News' of Christianity is that we are all sinners lost without any hope of eternal life because of our sins. Jesus Christ the sinless Son of Almighty God came to earth as a Man to reconcile humanity back to God by dealing with the sins of mankind.

On The Cross Jesus Christ became the sacrifice for humanity's sin of disobedience, rebellion and lawlessness. The Blood of Jesus which was shed on The Cross cleansed humanity of all sin providing all people an opportunity to make peace with God.

Through repentance of sin and faith in Jesus Christ anyone who calls upon the Name of the Lord will be saved, healed and delivered.

What The Cross shows us all...

1. THE CROSS EXPRESSES THE DEPTH OF SIN.

ROMANS 3:23 NLT For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God's glorious standard.

The Bible says that SIN is lawlessness 1 JOHN 3:4 NLT Whoever commits sin also commits lawlessness and sin is lawlessness.

It is SIN that separates a person from God because in God's eyes SIN is so ugly, vial and disgusting to His Holiness that it must first be removed before a human being can have a relationship with the Lord.

We may never fully understand the depravity of SIN and its consequences however for it to be removed from a person a tremendous price needed to be paid. This payment was God's very own Sinless Son. Jesus who came to earth to redeem humanity back to the Father.

Jesus was rejected by the people whom He came to save but was accepted by those who recognised that He was the Messiah or Saviour.

The only way that humanity could be reconciled with God was by first having the SIN issue dealt with and this required SINLESS Blood to be shed as an offering to remove all SINS.

This act took place at the Crucifixion of Jesus Christ and demonstrated the depth of SIN afflicting humanity and the cost to remove it.

2. THE CROSS SHOWS THE LOVE OF GOD.

JOHN 3:16 NKJV For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

Sin has consequences. Rebellion to God's Word and lawless living to God's Ways will result in curses and demonic affliction. So many people are suffering in life as a direct consequence to their sins.

God's overwhelming love towards His prized creation 'Man and Woman' caused Him to provide 'Man and Woman' a remedy to the sin issue. God loved His creation so much that even though 'Man and Woman' rebelled against Him in the Garden of Eden and sinned, God still provided a way out of bondage.

God's indescribable love towards 'Man and Woman' was expressed fully by sending His very only begotten Son Jesus to be the sacrifice payment for the sins of humanity.

3. THE CROSS IS THE ONLY WAY OF SALVATION.

JOHN 14:6 NKJV Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.

The death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ demonstrated His supremacy over sin and death. Through this miraculous act Jesus proved He is God and therefore He is able to boldly declare that only through Him can a person be saved from sin and its consequences.

JOHN 8:36 NKJV Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.

The power to be saved, healed and delivered is a direct result of the victory over sin, curses and demons that Jesus Christ accomplished on The Cross.

4. THE CROSS GIVES A NEW DYNAMIC TO LIFE.

When Jesus Christ died on The Cross the sins of humanity were also destroyed once and for all. Forgiveness exists right now but it must be appropriated by repentance and faith in Jesus Christ.

Jesus said Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is Born Again, he cannot see the Kingdom of God. JOHN 3:3 NKJV

The Born Again experience occurs when a person chooses to repent of their sins and accepts Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Saviour.

In God's eyes when a person is Born Again they are given a fresh new start to life with all sins forgiven and a God given destiny to be discovered.

2 CORINTHIANS 5:17 NKJV Therefore if anyone is in Christ he is a new creation old things have passed away behold all things have become new.

This could be one of the most powerful verses in the Bible because Jesus defeated sin on the Cross and rose from the grave, we too can experience a new life in Him.

5. THE CROSS IS A MOTIVATION FOR SERVICE.

LUKE 9:23 NKJV Then He said to them all, If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me.

A person's own cross is the God given assignment which he or she must accomplish. Following Jesus will also require you to serve Him and His Kingdom. Christianity has a mission from God and that is to evangelise the world with the Gospel and to establish His Kingdom on the earth.

The Cross is the doorway that leads to an abundant, fulfilled and contented life with God. Your true destiny for why you were created can now be realised and fulfilled. This is your true path in life waiting to be discovered.

Have you journeyed to The Cross and given your life to Jesus? If not DO IT NOW! What stands between you and The Cross is SELF. Sin, Lust, Addictions and Pride are all focused on Self not The Cross. 'I' is central to sIn, prIde and LucIfer. When the 'I' is removed and substituted by the cross freedom comes next.
